The Original
Home Depot's viral twinkling balsam fir.
The Grand Duchess Twinkling Balsam Fir is Home Depot's viral Christmas tree, sold under its Home Decorators Collection label and known for selling out early in the season. The 7.5-foot tree is a full green balsam fir about 56 inches wide when shaped, with 3,271 branch tips and 2,250 tiny LED lights that switch between warm white and multicolor and run through a range of twinkle and fade settings.
The Alternatives
Full 7.5-foot firs that sparkle in warm white and color.
Glitzhome 7.5ft Pre-Lit Majestic Memory Fir with 2,000 Twinkling Micro Lights and 2,850 Tips
The Glitzhome Majestic Memory Fir is the tree we would bring home when the Grand Duchess is sold out. Turn off the lamps and its 2,000 twinkling micro lights, the closest count on Amazon to the Grand Duchess's 2,250, cover the whole fir in tiny points of light, and from the sofa the difference simply disappears. Leave it in a steady warm white for a quiet evening by the fire, or switch to multicolor, twinkle or a slow fade across 10 functions when the kids come running down the stairs. Its 2,850 PE and PVC tips form a layered, natural fir shape, and the memory wire branches spring into place out of the box, so setup night is about hot cocoa and ornaments instead of fluffing. A remote and foot pedal change the lights, the remote remembers your favorite setting, and a built-in timer turns the tree on for six hours every evening, so it is glowing when you walk in the door. At about 50 inches wide it is a little slimmer than the Grand Duchess, which makes it easy to tuck beside a sofa or into a corner.

Glitzhome 7.5ft Pre-Lit Majestic Evergreen Fir with 1,800 Warm White and Multi-Color Lights
The Majestic Evergreen Fir matches the Grand Duchess's size: 7.5 feet tall, 56 inches wide and 3,261 tips, 2,151 of them molded PE. Its 1,800 lights glow warm white for quiet evenings and burst into multicolor with chasing and twinkling effects when the family gathers to open presents, all for less than the Grand Duchess costs.
Best For
The Grand Duchess size and sparkle at a lower price.
Pairs Well With
Red and green glass ornaments, a red velvet tree skirt and a gold star.
Best Choice Products Full Aspen Christmas Tree, 7.5ft Pre-Lit Noble Fir with 1,500 Twinkling Micro LEDs
Best Choice Products uses tiny micro LEDs like the Grand Duchess, 1,500 of them, so the tree glitters with fine points of light instead of big bulbs, the way a frosted window sparkles at night. They switch between warm white and multicolor across nine sequences on 3,000 layered PE and PVC tips, and the cordless sections power up as you stack them, so there is one plug at the base.
Best For
Fine micro-light sparkle and an easy one-plug setup.
Pairs Well With
A woven tree collar, wood bead garland and handmade ornaments.
Afufysf 7.5 ft Pre-Lit Christmas Tree with 1,500 Warm White and Multi-Color LEDs and Tree Collar
The Afufysf arrives ready for its close-up: a full 55-inch tree, right at the Grand Duchess's width, with 1,500 LEDs in warm white or multicolor across 11 modes and a tree collar in the box. Its sections power-connect to a single plug, so the whole tree is glowing about three minutes after you set it up, in time for cocoa.
Best For
A finished, gift-ready look straight out of the box.
Pairs Well With
Gold and champagne ornaments and a cream ribbon garland.
If You Want the Fullest Branches Instead
Thicker branches, fewer lights.
Hykolity 7.5ft Premium Prelit Christmas Tree, 5,773 Realistic Tips, Fast Connect, 1,050 Dual Color LEDs
If a thick, lush tree matters more to you than a blanket of tiny lights, the Hykolity Premium has 5,773 PE and PVC tips, almost twice the Grand Duchess's, so ornaments sink into the branches like they do on a fresh-cut fir. Its 1,050 LEDs switch between warm white and multicolor with fading and flashing effects, and Fast Connect sections power up through the trunk with one plug.
Best For
The densest, most lifelike branches, with fewer and larger lights.
Pairs Well With
A woven tree collar, red and gold glass ornaments and a plaid ribbon garland.
