About the Studio

Root + Reef Interiors is an interior design studio founded in 2024 on the coast of Delaware. Our work is shaped by the light of the Mid-Atlantic shoreline and the quiet confidence of old-world craft: warm oak, cedar, linen, natural stone, and the patina that only time earns.

Before founding Root + Reef, our principal designer spent a decade inside the flooring industry, working closely with major manufacturers. That ground-level perspective shapes every project we take on, from understanding how materials are made and how they age to knowing which ones are worth specifying.

Design philosophy

We design rooms that feel rooted, not styled. Spaces that quiet down rather than show off. Heritage materials paired with restraint; warmth without excess. Our palette leans toward sun-faded neutrals, soft woods, and fabrics that soften with use. We create the kind of rooms you grow into, not decorate over.

How we decide

After years of designing homes and sourcing furnishings, we know that a beautiful piece is only worth recommending if it also works. We consider quality, construction, comfort, scale, durability, and how the piece will live in a real room. Style matters, but never at the expense of function.

We only recommend furniture we would be comfortable sourcing for our own clients. Every piece has to feel considered, perform well for its intended use, and offer lasting value in the home.
